Rick Strassman MD, author of DMT: The Spirit Molecule
"An informative and compelling exploration of shamanic use of ayahuasca, the extraordinary visionary brew. The visual representation of an ayahuasca trip is outstanding. An unexpected strength of the film is its discussion of the battle between ayahuasca-using indigenous tribes, and Western oil companies."
Christopher Barnaby 5/5 !
" Dean has created a masterpiece in reportage and a collage of understanding which enables the most lay viewer a greater vision of the world of the Amazonian Shaman. Not only does he uncover this secret world, he also clearly links this with the modern world and the necessity for humankind to return to its roots considering the fate of the planet as it stands today. Expect yourself to be drawn into the hidden world of the shaman from just one viewing as I have been. Bravo Dean! - I look forward to your next venture!" - email: chris@realitybelief.com

Here's a review of your video "Shamans of the Amazon", You can post on your site.
Dean Jefferys' SHAMANS OF THE AMAZON, is far and away the best film yet made on ayahuasca and Amazonian shamanism. Dean Jefferys filmed his trip to Amazonia, with wife and child, his encounters and experiences with traditional ayahuasqueros, as well as with Western ayahuasca guides and healers, conducting what I call "hybrid" rituals; and scholars of shamanism such as the late Terence McKenna, and the Brazilian healer Yatra who started a heroin addiction treatment program using ayahuasca in Holland. The filmmaker used innovative techniques for bringing the visionary paintings of Pablo Amaringo to life and movement -- thereby creating the best media representation of inner visions that I have seen. Jefferys also filmed informative and incisive interviews with spokespeople for groups working to preserve the ecological and cultural integrity of Amazonian tribes; and demonstrations in Western cities protesting the drug war prohibition of sacred medicines. By giving the political and global context within which the ritual use of shamanic entheogens is pursued, he has succeded in giving a complete and well-rounded portrait of this complex situation. I highly recommend this film.

Comments by people after Shamans of the Amazon
went to air in Australia.
I just saw the documentary, Shamans of the Amazon, on SBS, have been meaning to see it for so long, and i finally got to.
That was a mind blowing film, thankyou so much for making something along these lines, it is really appreciated.
It must have been such an experience to travel to the amazon and experience everything that you did, the yachacs seem like such friendly people.
Metting Terence McKenna must have been fantastic also, you are a lucky guy.

Dean Willow and family a big hi!
I have just watched your documentary on SBS and was blown away! What tremendous courage and vision you had to follow to bring this story from deep in the Amazon. Willow I have an 8month old little girl and am just preggers again and truly I was staggered at your undertaking in going into the jungle pregnant and with a wee one. Good on you mate, that 6 hour hike mustve been a killer!
I came across DMT in the Scotland a few years ago, introduced by a great spiritual friend and vary concerned earthwise brother. I gotta say that I was truly unprepared for the experience and knew that it was far beyond anything I had ever thought possible. The overwhelming revelation for me was that this reality was not the only one and the veil had well and truly been lifted.
I enjoyed the documentary, it is a story well told and holds an objectivity that seems to emanate from a 'higher perspective'. I grieve in the depth of my soul at the destruction that is going on right now against man, beast and plant. What is the agenda behind the destruction. I feel so much more responsible now with my own children, what will be left for them?
Thank you for your energy and your communication and for all that you have gone through to achieve what you have. My family and I are grateful. My love and respect to your friends in the Amazon.
Kind regards
Kaz
