Great outcome for Ayahuasca court case in Australia. 6th-08-05
Those who have been following Darpans court case in Australia over the last 12 months will be very happy about the findings in the Lismore local court yesterdays. Australian, Darpan jumped on by a 7 car drug squad with dogs guns the works. was originally charged with Importing Prohibited Narcotics , namely DMT and Harmine. He was also charged with dealing a schedule one substance. He was put on $100,000 bail. and spent 3 days locked up. He was looking down the barrel of 10 to 20 years in Jail. Then the magic started to happen. Was it the plants or the spirits that work with the plants or maybe the focused beems of love? who Knows. but for some strange reason the police prosecutors started dropping the charges. Sure it was only a bottle of ayahuasca, a shamanic potion of 2 amazon plants used for millennia for all sorts of positive reasons. It was not a white powder made in a laboratory for financial gain.
As we sat breathless while the magistrate read a Darpans "glowing" references and we beamed him love I could see he was starting to get what this was really about. The Magistrate virtually apologised for the ordeal that such a well respected community man as he had to endure since his arrest. He said there would be NO FINE AND NO RECORDED CONVICTION. HIS ONLY PUNISHMENT WAS A 2 YEAR GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND with $500 self assurity that he only has to pay if he is naughty over those 2 years. People usually get more than that for being caught with Pot.
So what does this mean for Ayahuasca use in OZ? or importing? Its still technically illegal but a precedent has been set that makes the punishment for importing and even use fairly unimportant as far as the law goes. So what is the big difference between USA and OZ. The High court intervened in the USA to keep Ayahuasca illegal.

Beloved friends......
I want to express to
you my deep gratitude and heartfelt thanks for the
love, prayers, songs and uplifting thoughts that you
sent my way and that contributed to the best possible
outcome in my recent and final court hearing.
In my last letter I asked you to visualise me as a
free man walking away from this ordeal with a smile on
my face........
well, I'm happy to report that's exactly what
happened.......!
Isn't that a wonderful testament to how powerful a
collective intention can be?

The presiding judge had a conservative reputation but
as I faced him, he struck me as a compassionate and
intelligent man.........he began by reading a large
stack of character references and testimonials in my
support which appeared to move him somewhat......while
he was busy, I invoked Tara and showered him and the
rest of the room in golden light........its uncanny
but everything did go very calm and the rest of the
proceedings took place easily and effortlessly with
minimal resistance from the prosecution. My lawyer
made my case in a humble yet assertive manner and put
my interest in ayahuasca firmly within a context of
healing and transformation. The judge accepted this
context on the basis of what he termed "glowing"
character references and after considering the
evidence decided to set me free. There was no fine and
the charges were dismissed. As a token gesture, he
put me on a good behaviour bond for two years. He then
proceeded to apologise for the discomfort of my 3 days
in jail and for the inconvenience of having to endure
bail and numerous court appearances.
It is indeed the best possible result we could have
wished for and thank you so much for playing your part
in it!
This excellent news was followed by the sad and
untimely death of a very close friend, Disha the
following day. She is the wife of Bhakta who I
collaborated with to make "Temple of Glowing Sound". I
dropped all my commitments to support Bhakta at this
time and that's why this update comes to you almost a
week late.......
